2.0-2.7V output = sometimes unstable switching.  Less than 2.0V out = unstable switching.  Less than 2.5V in/out voltage = unstable switching.
Small size inductor is good to 1.5A output.

  Vin 12v @ 0.9A Vout 5v @ 1.8A  efficiency 83.3%

Sweet spot, if Vout = 3.3, then Vin = 5 <> Vin 12, Vout 9..5 @ 1 Amp , so 9W to 5Watts
